Namecoin

Namecoin was developed to decentralize the Internet Infrastructure and increase privacy and security by creating a blockchain-based domain name service (DNS). Namecoin uses Bitcoin's Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism for its consensus and distributes DNS on the blockchain network by securely registering human-readable names.
